When news broke this week that WWE Diva Emma had been arrested for shoplifting an iPad Mini case from a Hartford, CT, Walmart store, the internet erupted in confusion … and laughter.
Was her nutty WWE character based on some real life mental weirdness? Was she tripping balls or an alcoholic opportunist? Or was it just a mistake?
Though we’ll probably never know for sure, her side of the story put out there by her lawyer makes perfect sense, and everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt right? It’s not like she has a long criminal record.
To paraphrase: she messed up at the self-serve checkout machine and had paid for the rest of her items, but missed the case.
Case closed … well not quite
What happened after her arrest is perhaps the most wacky thing to come out of the story. Did she get the chance to return the item or pay the remainder and apologize?
It seems Walmart has zero tolerance towards human error and the justice system had no choice but to render some form of punishment. She attended court on Tuesday and was ordered to one hour community service.
You didn’t read that wrong, one hour community service does exist! What purpose it really serves is anyone’s guess, but if our alien overlords land tomorrow I’m not the one that has to try and logically explain it to them.
… So she made a ditsy error, Walmart were vapid enough to press charges, and the the system wasted god knows how much money and time processing and punishing her for … one hour.
WAIT IT GETS BETTER!
WWE’s masterful PR machine went in to overdrive.
First off they washed their hands of the poor lass with a blunt but expected statement, that whatever cock-up she made was her business:
WWE is aware that Tenille Dashwood (WWE Diva Emma) was arrested for shoplifting. Ms. Dashwood is ultimately responsible for her personal actions.
Later WWE decided that the terrible black mark against them, the constant negative press and calls for action, were just far too much, and they were left with no choice but to release her from her contract, to send a strong message that they do not tolerate such degenerate behaviour from their
employees independent contractors.
Yeah they actually fired her.
They rehired her!
Upon further evaluation, WWE has reinstated Tenille Dashwood (WWE Diva Emma) but will take appropriate punitive action for her violation of the law.
I’m not sure if anybody has explained to WWE’s PR department what PR actually means, but I don’t see how such a silly series of circumstances has made them look like anything more than a complete bunch of twats.
As for “punitive action” maybe they should have Randy Orton tear up her hotel room and shit in her bag, or Jack Swagger force her to take 3 deep hits of Psych OG Kush until she passes out, or Michael Hayes could just remind her that he’s more of a ni**a than she is.
