For some the concept of betting on pro wrestling – a fixed sport – is hard to get their heads around, however unless you are privy to the outcome it is really not much that different than betting on a real sport. You have to make an educated guess and hope for the best. The big casino and betting sites have been giving the opportunity to make small wagers on match outcomes for a while now, and this past Sunday’s Hell In A Cell was no different. People from Australia to England placed bets in what is an increasingly popular past time. Of course online casino games in Australia are also all the rage right now, so online WWE betting was always going to prove popular.
Usually the betting lines are fairly accurate to WWE match outcomes. These are based on WWE’s often formulaic booking style, hints from the insider wrestling media, and perhaps bookmakers’ own direct sources. However from time to time they do get their odds wrong and gamblers are able to cash out. The closest we had to that on Sunday was the New Day vs Dudley Boys match. The betting lines had the Dudleys the favorites to win:
Dudley Boyz (-130) vs. New Day (+170)
But as we saw the storyline for the night saw the New Day cheat to get the victory. Unless this is overturned in the storyline, the New Day are the winners in the eyes of the betting sites. So if you went against the favorites and put money on the New Day you would have gotten a nice above average payout. The rest of the betting lines were precisely in line with the actual match results:
Hell in a Cell
Brock Lesnar (-400) vs. The Undertaker (+280)
Hell in a Cell
Roman Reigns (-675) vs. Bray Wyatt (+425)
WWE Divas Championship
Charlotte (-565) vs. Nikki Bella (+375)
WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Seth Rollins (-425) vs. Kane (+305)
Kevin Owens (-675) vs. Ryback (+425)
If you’re looking to put down some cash on WWE, your next opportunity will be the November 22nd, Survivor Series event. The only match confirmed so far is Seth Rollins defending the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns.
