Ring Announcer Justin Roberts Moves On
WWE ring announcer Justin Roberts has effectively been released from WWE after his contract was not renewed. WWE.com issued the following statement after RAW:
WWE has chosen to not exercise its option to renew ring announcer Justin Roberts’ contract. Effective immediately, Roberts is released from WWE.
WWE wishes him the best in all his future endeavors.
Whether the departure was mutual, a cost cutting measure similar to Josh Mathews, or there’s some other undisclosed reason is unclear, but Roberts was a talented and well respected member of the crew and all things considered it’s quite a surprising move.
The 34 year old has been with WWE since 2002 and worked his way up the ranks to be the main RAW announcer.
Flair and Roberts Don’t Appear On Camera
Despite being backstage at last night’s RAW from Atlanta, neither Ric Flair or Jake Roberts appeared on camera. Jake who is still going through various cancer related tests was in good spirits and posed in a photo with Natalya:
Made my night seeing Jake Roberts… He always reminds me to keep my head up and be grateful for everything I have! #WWEAtlanta #Raw
