Wrestling legend Jake Roberts said he has a new found respect for CM Punk after his recent RAW appearance. He told the WWE website:
“I appreciate CM Punk so much more now than I ever have. He kneeled down over at the side, got completely out of the picture and allowed me to have that moment. It was incredible. It shows people what a true professional he is. He really raised himself up on my list of people that I respect.”
Jake’s appearance was kept a big secret with only Vince, Triple H and an inner circle knowing in advance.
JR Says WWE Network An Old Idea
Jim Ross told the Miami Herald there was always a plan for a WWE Network dating back years:
“The network is something that many of us have spent ample time in WWE talking about. Talk of starting a network goes all the way back to when WWE started buying wrestling libraries. I was involved in the process as one of many people involved in the process.”
“I’m sure I will be a part of it in one form or another as they have the Mid-South library, the Crockett portion of WCW, the Turner portion of WCW and the last 20 years of WWE. Whether I’m going to do anything else [new] for it obviously remains to be seen. That is WWE’s call. It’s a wonderful opportunity to continue to grow the brand. I think it’s ahead of the curve as far as distribution is concerned.”
“If you look at the demographics, people are going to see it for the very first time. For example, that Mid-South stuff, it’s going to be new [to them]. All of those shows from the territories, they didn’t go into reruns either. They ran them one week and the next week and the next week and so on. A lot of those programs are going to be brand new to large groupings of viewers. So I’m happy for WWE. It was a big win for them. So on February 24 line up to order it. I think it’s going to be great.”
Speaking of JR he revealed in his latest JRSBARBQ.com blog that WWE are working on a Paul Heyman DVD:
Been asked by WWE to be a part of the upcoming Paul Heyman DVD of which I’m anxious to participate. Once details are worked out we will schedule a time for me to head to WWE HQ and tell a few…dozen Heyman stories. I’m very honored to have been requested to be a part of this production as it was me who gave Paul his first broadcast gig and taught him the ropes as best that I could. Paul was so high strung and outspoken that many within WCW did not want to work with him but I saw talent in the abrasive albeit highly intelligent Jewish kid from Scarsdale, N.Y.
