Former WCW Wrestler Al Green (The Dog) Dies

Al Green WCW

Former wrestling star Al Green has passed away at the age of 57 years old. He had been battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and needed an oxygen tank for some time before his death this morning.

Al Green The DogFans will perhaps best know Green under his “The Dog” gimmick at the tail-end of WCW, where he would literally bark and drink from the toilet. He teamed with Brian Knobbs and took part in the hardcore division.

His tenure as a WCW lower card talent went back several years – he made up one half of the Wrestling Crew with Marcus Laurinaitis and one half of the Master Blasters tag team as “Blade” with Kevin Nash (Steel) before he went to the WWF, though neither team lasted long. Nash wrote on Twitter…

“R.I.P Al Green thanks for saying yes in Hammon Indiana to be my partner.”

Green slowly disappeared from wrestling after WCW’s closure.

Here he is taking on Sid Vicious in 2000, shortly before being repackaged as The Dog…
